#1 LAWN CARE SERVICE IN DEBARY
DeBary's Local Sod & Lawn Company Since 2012
DeBary is home. It’s where Local Sod and Landscape has been incorporated since 2012, and it’s where most of our crew lives. We’ve laid sod in Glen Abbey, run drainage in Springview, regraded lots in DeBary Plantation, and pulled storm debris out of yards off Highbanks Road after Ian and again after Milton.
That matters more than it sounds. DeBary yards are not one thing. Up on the ridge the soil is dry sand that drains almost too well and burns a lawn off in May. Drop toward the St. Johns River and Gemini Springs and you get lots that sit wet for days after an afternoon storm. Same city, opposite problems, completely different fix.
We’ll come out, walk the yard, and tell you which one you’ve got.

WHAT WE DO IN DEBARY
Six Lawn Care Services for DeBary Yards
Every lawn care service below is one we run in DeBary regularly — not a list copied off a national site. Where a DeBary yard needs something specific, we’ve said so.
– New Lawn & Sod Installation — St. Augustine for the shaded, mature-tree streets around Glen Abbey and DeBary Plantation. Bahia for the big open lots out toward Fort Florida and Orlandia Heights. Delivered and laid on prepped ground.
– Lawn Repair & Replacement — Re-sodding the dead half of a lawn, patching where equipment or a pool build tore it up, and full restoration after storm damage.
– Lawn Irrigation & Sprinklers — New systems, zone repairs and coverage corrections. Volusia County requires a working rain sensor on every automatic system — we install and test one on every job.
– Lawn Drainage — French drains and catch basins. This is our most-requested service on the low-lying DeBary lots near the river, and our reviews are full of it.
– Grading, Fill Dirt & Top Soil — Correcting the low spots that hold water and building the grade back up so it runs away from the house.
– Lawn Cleanup & Tree Trimming — Debris removal, land clearing and post-storm cleanup. We were out across DeBary after both Ian and Milton.

KNOW BEFORE YOU WATER
DeBary Watering Rules for a New Lawn
The fastest way to lose a brand-new lawn in DeBary is to water it on the normal schedule. Volusia County’s restrictions apply to every DeBary resident, and under the standard rules you’d only be allowed two watering days a week — nowhere near enough for sod that hasn’t rooted. There’s an exception for new installs, and most homeowners don’t know it exists.
What are the rules, and what changes when you install new sod?
The standard DeBary schedule — Daylight Saving Time is two days a week: odd-numbered addresses on Wednesday and Saturday, even-numbered on Thursday and Sunday, between 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. During Eastern Standard Time it drops to one day: odd addresses Saturday, even addresses Sunday. No watering between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at any time of year. Businesses run Tuesday, plus Friday during DST.
The new landscape exception — Newly installed sod can be watered any time of day, on any day, for the first 30 days, then every other day for the next 30 — one 60-day establishment window, using the minimum water needed to get roots down. This is what gets a new lawn through its first two months. Keep your installation invoice with the date on it; if a code officer stops by, that’s your proof.
Rain sensors are not optional — Every automatic irrigation system in Volusia County must have a working rain sensor or soil-moisture sensor. Violations start at a $50 fine and climb from there. We check the sensor on every irrigation job we touch.
We hand every DeBary customer a written watering schedule on install day, and we’ll call to check on the lawn before the establishment window ends.

What Does Lawn Care Cost in DeBary?
DeBary lots vary more than most towns in Volusia — a quarter-acre in Springview prices very differently from an acre-plus off Fort Florida Road. So we measure before we quote, every time. Here’s what moves the number, and why we won’t give you a figure over the phone without seeing the yard.
What goes into a DeBary lawn care quote?
– Square footage, measured on site — never estimated off a satellite image
– Grass type: St. Augustine, Zoysia or Bahia all price differently per pallet
– Whether the old lawn needs stripping and hauling off
– Grading, fill dirt or top soil needed before anything goes down
– Irrigation — new install, extension, or repair of what’s already there
– Access for equipment, which on some of the older DeBary lots with narrow side gates is the real constraint
– Drainage, if the lot holds water
Measurements and quotes are free anywhere in DeBary, and we’ll tell you honestly if your lawn only needs a repair rather than a full replacement.
